Ventura County Police Seek Vehicle Involved In Hit-And-Run

Friday, December 14, 2018

The Ventura County Police Department is looking for a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run incident last month and they need the public’s help. Police say that a 1990s Honda Civic is believed to have hit and caused severe injuries to a pedestrian.

The incident occurred on November 18. Officers were called to Harbor Boulevard and San Jon Road in the early morning hours to find a pedestrian unconscious in the road and suffering from major injuries. The victim, 37, is now stable but police say he will need extensive rehabilitation.

At the Law Offices of J. Jeffrey Herman, we know that pedestrians face dangers when they are anywhere in or around the roadway. If you have been involved in a pedestrian crash and need to know where to turn, we want to help. When you need a Ventura County pedestrian accident attorney, our team will work to secure the compensation you need.

The Reality

When we look at the numbers from the latest reporting year for California, we see some surprising numbers:

  • There were 14,215 pedestrian accident injuries
  • There were 867 pedestrian accident deaths

In Ventura County for the same year, there were nearly 50 pedestrians injured or killed.

If you think about it, there is no other group in or around the roadway that is more vulnerable to the impact of a vehicle. When a person gets stuck, they have no protection. This can lead to severe injuries. It is not uncommon for us to represent pedestrian accident victims who are suffering from the following:

These accidents are usually caused due to driver error, some of which are more careless and reckless than others. For example, those who make the choice to drive distracted are putting people’s lives at risk. When a driver is focused on their phones or other devices instead of the roadway, they should be held accountable when they cause injuries.

We also know that drunk drivers continue to haunt our roadways. Injuries from impaired driving accidents tend to be more severe.

Regardless of how a pedestrian accident occurs, if it happens because of someone else’s negligent behavior, that person needs to be held accountable.
